About
Welcome to Christina Hester’s MythSeekers!
As a young boy, Heinrich Schliemann’s father read him the myths and legends of the Ancient World. Tales of Gods, and the Iliad and Odyssey of Homer. Then, 180 years ago on Christmas in the year 1829, Heinrich was given an Illustrated History of the World. In his young mind, filled with imagination, he connected the mythical stories of ancient times to the reality of history in the modern world, and at the age of 8 he declared that one day he would find and excavate the mythical city of Troy.
People laughed at the time! The city was a myth – an old legend like Lost Atlantis or El Dorado, and here was this young boy with an imagination and daydreams! But they probably weren’t laughing in 1871 when Heinrich Schliemann and Frank Calvert identified and excavated the ruins of the ancient city of Troy, in what is now Turkey.
In every myth, a grain of truth.
It is to the spirit of imagination and investigation embodied by Schliemann that Mythseekers.com is dedicated.
Laugh if you will, but the myths, fairy tales, and legends of times past each carry at least a grain of truth. Whether that truth leads to a real fantastical beast or lost city, or whether it leads to a deeper understanding of the human psyche, only serious investigation will reveal.
This is where it all starts – the investigations of Christina Hester as she explores Worlds of Wonder and Mystery in search of the reality behind the Myths.
